LOCAL EMPLOYER PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS

Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)
Listed below are links to the charts of the estimated Local PERS billing amounts by employer for 2013. The charts list the employers in alphabetical order and include normal and accrued liability pension, noncontributory group life insurance (NCGI) and early retirement incentive costs (ERI), if applicable. In addition the charts include amounts due for the Chapter 19, P.L. 2009 deferral. Certain locations elected to participate in the deferral of payment of 50% of the normal and accrued liability amounts that were due for their 2009 appropriation bill. These installments are being amortized over 15 years.

2013 LOCAL EMPLOYER BILLING AMOUNTS

Summit Area Public Foundation, Board of Ed and Recycling Advisory Committee Partner to Establish Innovative Composting Program

Each month at Summit High School, one ton of food waste that would otherwise enter the waste stream is composted, saving money and benefitting the environment. Funded by a grant from the Summit Area Public Foundation (SAPF), the composting program, which began last September, is the first of its kind in New Jersey.

The Summit Recycling Advisory Committee (RAC), a volunteer committee that advises Common Council on how to increase recycling in Summit, partnered with the Board of Education to apply for the SAPF grant after learning about similar composting efforts in Merck’s cafeterias in Summit. Because the high school kitchen staff prepares over 1000 meals a day for the high school and elementary schools, the high school was the natural choice for location.
